Oral Sedation Dentistry

Oral sedation dentistry utilises prescription medication to encourage relaxation and reduce anxiety. Your dentist will review your medical history to rule out any pharmaceutical interactions and conditions to ensure your safety.

You will be advised to take your pre-medication appropriately one hour prior to your procedure. As you relax, we will monitor your vital signs for a safe and worry-free experience.

Many patients report little to no memory of their treatment, though they remain conscious and able to respond to our staff.

IV Sedation (Intravenous Sedation)

For patients who require a deeper relaxation, IV sedation allows us to control the level of sedation.

For patients with extreme anxiety or undergoing lengthy procedures such as smile make-overs, implant and bone grafting procedure, or full mouth reconstruction, IV sedation works best because it is longer lasting. 

Both types of sedation require you to have a trusted family member drive you home from your dental appointment as you will still feel groggy afterwards. It is best to relax at home for the rest of the day.
