Dental Crowns and Bridges

Dental Crowns and Bridges

Broken teeth and missing teeth can make it difficult for you to enjoy your favourite dishes and affect your daily speech.

When chewing feels painful or you want to fill the gap in your smile, you can count on the long-lasting, aesthetic restorations at Hulme Court Dental and Implant Centre. Our dentists are both gentle and experienced in placing all types of dental restorations using modern techniques with superb tooth -coloured materials.

Fixing a Broken Tooth

Broken or extensively decayed teeth require more stability than a dental filling can provide. Because dental crowns, also called caps, cover the entire tooth above the gum line. They reinforce the tooth structure to prevent splitting, chipping and additional damages.

At Hulme Court Dental and Implant Centre, we offer both durable full gold restorations and natural-looking tooth-coloured ceramic crowns. The type of crown that your dentist recommends depends on your specified needs and preferences. We will advise you on the benefits and limitations of each material used.

Using our intraoral camera, we can display an image of your tooth or teeth on our monitors. Seeing a picture of the tooth will aid in making an informed decision.

Dental Crown Procedure

Dental crowns are customised to fit with your natural teeth perfectly and provide comfortable function. Because a dental crown fits over your natural tooth, your dentist will prepare your tooth in such a way that your crown does not look or feel bulky.

  • Digital X-rays
  • Tooth preparation
  • Impressions of teeth and a bite record
  • Shading and colour choice of ceramic crowns
  • Temporary crown to protect the prepared tooth

We use a trusted local Australian dental laboratory to create your final restoration. Once it arrives in about two weeks, we will remove the temporary crown, bond your final crown in place and small adjustments to ensure proper occlusion (bite).

Dental Bridges Procedure

A Dental Bridge is a collection of dental crowns adjoining as a single unit. Bridges are made of aesthetic, tooth-coloured ceramic to replace gaps in your smile and help to restore chewing function.

The design of Dental Bridges consists of two parts: custom made crowns on abutment teeth and artificial tooth (teeth) filling the gap from a previous extraction or a congenitally missing tooth.

The process of bridge fabrication is similar to dental crown procedure described in the previous paragraph.

Completing Your Smile

A space left by a missing tooth causes your natural teeth to tilt or drift toward the gap. The changes of your natural teeth will add to aesthetic concerns and cause sensitivities, pain or looseness due to increased exposure of root surfaces as the teeth continue to drift.

Ceramic crowns and bridges match your natural teeth in both shape and colour. Your dentist will meticulously design the dental crowns and bridges to restore comfortable chewing and promote confidence in your appearance.

Replacing a missing tooth is about more than just meeting the eye. By filling the gap in your smile, you are also regaining your ability and comfort to eat.

Maintenance is crucial in overall success of your dental works. Keeping your teeth and gums healthy will provide greater longevity for your dentition.

  • Brushing at least twice daily
  • Flossing at least once daily
  • Dental clean and check-up twice yearly
  • Diagnostic x-rays

* Bridges require some special care to prevent gum disease and decay developing beneath the crowns. Tiny brushes and specially designed dental floss will make caring for your dental bridge convenient.
